I tried this recipe for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it was a huge hit - everyone wanted the recipe. It is very simple to make.
Easy Butter Bars
Nonstick cooking spray
1 pkg. 2-layer-size yellow or white cake mix
1/2 c. butter, softened
3 eggs
1 8oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/2 to 1 tsp. butter flavoring (optional)
4 c. sifted powdered sugar
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat 9x13 inch pan with cooking spary; set aside.
2. For crust: In medium mixing bowl, beat cake mix, butter and one egg with electric mixer on low speed until mixture is crumbly. Pat into bottom of prepared pan; set aside.
3. In medium mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, remaining eggs, and if desired, butter flavoring. Beat until smooth. Add powdered sugar and beat on low speed until well combined. Spread on top of crust in pan.
4. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until filling is set and golden brown. Cool in pan on wire rack. (The filling will fall when it's cooled.) Cut into bars. Store, covered, in refrigerator.

Sorry this picture isn't the greatest, but I realized I needed to take one after I had already wrapped them up for my visiting teaching girls. They aren't much to look at though (looks can be deceiving!)
