White or Wheat Bread

WHITE OR WHEAT BREAD
From the kitchen of: Angie
Makes 5 loaves

In a large bowl, combine:

1/2 cup warm water
2T. yeast
2 T. sugar

Give it a little stir, set aside and let it "grow."

Add:
7 cups flour
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup honey (or sugar)
1 T. salt
5 cups HOT water (as hot as your tap will give you)

Mix really well and then add your yeast mixture. You will have runny dough.

Start to add flour, 1 cup at a time. Knead.

Pour about 1/2 cups of vegetable oil on a cookie sheet and put your dough on the cookie sheet. Cover with plastic wrap to hold in the warmth. Let rise for about 10 minutes.

Divide dough into 2 equal sections and form into loaves. Place in greased pans and let rise until the dough reaches the top of pan.

Bake at 400 degrees for 27-30 minutes. Tops will be golden brown.

Butter tops and take out the pans to cool on a wire rack.

VARIATIONS:

CINNAMON BREAD
Take 1/5 of the dough (1 loaf) and roll it out in a rectangular shape making the width the same as your pan. It should be about 1/4 inch thick. Spread melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon on the dough. Roll it up and pinch the dough to keep it closed and place in pan.

NUTTY BREAD
This mixture is enough for 5 loaves
1/2 cup roasted hazelnuts, chopped
1/4 cup flax seed
1/4 cup poppy seed

Add when kneading

FRENCH ONION BREAD
This mixture is enough for 5 loaves

1/2 cup dehydrated onions
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1 pkg. onion soup mix

Add when kneading
